laundry

the laundry before: yes we have 2 washing machines and dryers... (so good! we bought the second ones because hubby used to work as an aircraft refueller and his clothes stank, so he had his own for his filthy clothes!

in the meantime, this is where we are now washing the clothes! we have the hose hooked up to the outdoor tap and an extension lead to the shed. the tarp is needed because it hasn't stopped raining. snowball the bunny is trying to help.

the reason we decided to do the laundry first: nice big hole in the floor (it has been there since before we moved in but as it was next to the far wall and covered with lino we didn't worry about it too much) - off to the hardware store for a couple of floorboards.

it wasn't until we removed the far washing machine and pulled back the lino that we realised the whole back of the room had damp floorboards, so we decided to replace the back half of the room - back to the hardware store to get another couple of floorboards.

at some point in time, one of the owner's had replaced the front right quarter of the floor. as we are going to be painting the floorboards and there was no way to hide the straight join in the middle of the doorway hubby decided that yep, we might as well just replace the lot! back to the hardware store once again!

the new floor: yay! we painted the joists with enamel paint under the floorboards in case any water does get through the floor for protection against damp. the whole in the back corner was because we had a couple of shorter boards to use (leftovers from the cut lengths we needed). it will eventually be covered up so it doesn't have to look especially pretty.
